A History of the Grammar School of Charles King of England is a local educational history by Henry de Beltgens Gibbins (1865-1907), the English economic historian best known for his Industry in England and his short Industrial History of England that became standard nineteenth-century school texts. Gibbins taught at Nottingham High School and later at the Higher Grade School in Newcastle, and produced a long series of works on economic and educational history in the late Victorian and Edwardian period. This book traces the history of one of the English endowed grammar schools founded under royal charter and is a primary source for the local social and educational history of the town it covers.
