About this book
An Historical Journal of the Transactions at Port Jackson and Norfolk Island draws on official papers and incorporates journals and voyage accounts. The title page gives the voyages a span from the first sailing of the Sirius in 1787 to the return of the ship's company to England in 1792. The sailing account records steering southwest toward the meridian of Sal and shaping a course to pass a little eastward of the island.
The account of criminal courts describes a judge-advocate calling senior naval and military officers to assemble in uniform with their side-arms. The court procedure includes administering oaths to the members and the presiding judge-advocate, asking the prisoner's plea, and examining witnesses on oath.
