About this book

Tanya Thompson recalls running away as a teenager and creating a deception that drew the attention of multiple authorities. Her memoir opens with her reaction to the publicity surrounding the case, then returns to nights spent testing local ghost stories in Tennessee. The first-person account presents youthful defiance, a desire for recognition and a habit of challenging other people’s certainty.

About the author

Tanya Thompson

Thompson ran away from home at fifteen and spent the middle eighties passing herself off as a world-travelled countess, an act she sustained well enough to take in the FBI, the DEA and Interpol along with a good many people who ought to have known better.
