About this book
Aurora Leigh is a poem by Elizabeth Barrett Browning, in its 1857 edition. Its dedication to John Kenyon notes that the words cousin and friend keep recurring in the poem, and says the last pages were finished under his roof.
In one passage a speaker addresses Romney Leigh and says her child, who has God and his mother, is never called fatherless. In another a crowd in a church is thrown into uproar, women shrieking and people running, and the last sight is Romney's calm face above the tumult. A later passage recalls a June day and the words spoken on it.
