Autobiography of A. B. Granville, M.D., F.R.S., Volume 2 is the second volume of the posthumous memoir of Augustus Bozzi Granville (1783-1872), the Italian-born British physician, obstetrician, and writer who settled in London and became one of the leading medical figures of the early Victorian period. Granville was a pioneer of the medical inspection of spas and health resorts; his Spas of England and Spas of Germany shaped the Victorian therapeutic travel industry. He was also an early Fellow of the Royal Society for his work in chemistry and obstetrics. The autobiography records his Italian youth, his service as a naval surgeon during the Napoleonic Wars, his London medical career, his contacts with continental scientific circles, and his role in the early years of British professional medicine.
