About this book
Beethoven, The Story of a Little Boy Who Was Forced to Practice, is one book in the Child's Own Book of Great Musicians, written by Thomas Tapper. The section headed How to Use This Book says the child cuts apart a sheet of illustrations and inserts each illustration in its proper place throughout the book. The section headed How to Use This Book adds that blank pages at the back are for the child to write his own story of the great musician.
The text says Beethoven was a welcome guest everywhere in Vienna, proud in the right way, very honest, always straightforward and independent. The text says Beethoven did not like to perform in public, and tells a story that once he was to play his C major Concerto at a concert. Numbered questions in the book ask, among others, how old he was when he first played in public and what composition of his was first to be published.
