Birds and Their Nests is a children’s natural history by Mary Botham Howitt (1799-1888), the prolific English author and translator who, with her husband William, produced a long shelf of popular books and who gave English readers their first Hans Christian Andersen. She is remembered for the verse The Spider and the Fly. This book introduces young readers to British birds and their nesting in the gentle instructive style of the Howitts.
