The novel “Briarcliff Prep” by Brianna Peppins tells the coming-of-age tale of fourteen-year-old Avielle LeBeau, who enrolls in the historically black boarding school Briarcliff Preparatory School for Girls for her first year of study. In addition to joining the school newspaper, Avielle aspires to blend in and carry on her family’s tradition. Her life, nevertheless, changes drastically when she learns a terrible secret about her sister’s boyfriend.
