Clean Code: A Handbook of Agile Software Craftsmanship is a book about writing programs that others can read and maintain, by Robert C. Martin, known as Uncle Bob, an author of the Agile Manifesto. It sets out principles and practices for naming, writing functions, using comments, formatting code, handling errors, writing unit tests and designing classes.
Much of the book works through examples, showing code that is hard to read and how it can be cleaned up step by step. It is written for working programmers.
