Descriptions of Two Extinct Mammals of the Order Xenarthra is a 1916 paleontological paper by Oliver Perry Hay (1846-1930), the American vertebrate paleontologist who was the leading early twentieth-century authority on the Pleistocene mammals of North America. Hay worked at the American Museum of Natural History and the Smithsonian, and produced the standard bibliographies and catalogues of North American fossil vertebrates along with monographs on fossil turtles and Ice Age faunas. This paper, published by the United States National Museum, describes extinct ground sloth material from Texas, part of his long programme on the giant Xenarthrans, the ground sloths and glyptodonts of the American Pleistocene. The paper is a specimen of classical descriptive vertebrate paleontology. Free PDF download available on BDeBooks.
