Een hart van steen book examines the dramatic events in Ellen’s youth following her sister’s birth. Twenty-five years later, Ellen, the only surviving Van Bemmel, returns to her parental home. She is pregnant, unexpected but not entirely coincidental. Full of fear, she stays in the empty, bare rooms, which are populated by shadows.
