About this book
The text treats salt as the conclusion of the growth of earths, calling salt an eruption of the soul and metal the completed body of earths. The discussion of chemical activity assigns crystallization to the soul of the earth, magnetism to the spirit of metals, and electrism to that of inflammables. The account of water describes light as increasing its oxygen action and producing tension within it, which the text identifies as its tendency to solution.
The account of embryonic development says that umbilical hernias originate through delayed entrance of the intestines into the abdominal cavity rather than their protrusion from it. The discussion of the earth calls the planet an accumulation of crystals, crystallized in its smallest parts rather than a single large crystal whose structure appears homogeneous.
