About this book
Fern Vale, or The Queensland Squatter, is a novel by Colin Munro. This copy is the first of three volumes, and its title page gives London. The contents list a preface followed by numbered chapters.
In one passage William Ferguson talks with his sister Kate about taking up a station. Kate asks whether the native people will be wild and whether a more settled part of the country would be safer, and William tells her that her fears are groundless. In another passage Tom walks with another young man and says that he overtook the man's brother on the road and that he and the brother will be sworn friends. A further passage has Tom telling another man to press for a reply from a woman who has not yet answered him.
