About this book
Fire-Tongue is by Sax Rohmer. The text shows Paul Harley stepping into his car in Chancery Lane and directing the chauffeur to drive in the direction of Hyde Park Corner and go along the Strand. Sir Charles, Mr. Harley's visitor, says he is not prone to sickly fancies, but that a conviction has been growing upon him for some time that he has incurred, how he cannot imagine, powerful enmity.
The text has Sidney described as "A dark fellow, foreign" and "A sort of Indian, like", and has Wessex ask what is meant by Indian. A first-person account says that the heat grew greater and greater, that a suffocating, sulphurous smell became perceptible, and that the roaring sound grew almost deafening.
