Forced Engagement

The sweet, lighthearted Pride and Prejudice spinoff “Forced Engagement” by Florence Gold is tinged with just the right amount of angst. Three months after Mr. Bingley left Netherfield, leaving Mrs. Bennet hopeless and Jane devastated, the story resumes. The community is agitated by Sir James Langley’s entrance at Netherfield, particularly when he starts to show interest in Elizabeth, which leads to new plots and possible romantic relationships. But as regret and love entwine, a horrifying scheme against Elizabeth is revealed, forcing Darcy to take action before it’s too late.
