Gods of Fire and Thunder

Fred Saberhagen’s “Gods of Fire and Thunder” is the fifth installment in the “Book of the Gods” series. Haraldur the Northman is the main character. He returns to his own country with the hopes of leading a tranquil existence. But he finds himself against a young love-sick man who is trying to break through an unbreakable barrier of spooky fire.

Beneath the wall are a golden treasure and a lovely Valkyrie imprisoned in a magical slumber. Though first afraid Haraldur consents to help the young person on his quest bringing them into a celestial battle with Wodan, the Lord of Battles, Thor, and Loki.
