Hector’s Inheritance

Horatio Alger Jr.’s “Hector’s Inheritance” narrates the tale of young Hector, who discovers from his uncle that he is a low-born beggar lad with no rightful claim to the inheritance of his late father. But as the story progresses, Hector learns that his uncle’s assertion is untrue. He eventually succeeds in inheriting the land, and his cunning uncle pays the price.
