About this book
Holiday Tales by Florence Wilford holds two tales, Seven Campbells and Cecil's Memorable Week. The contents list three chapters for the first, Mother and Sons, Johnnie's Protege and What Seven Campbells Can Do, and four for the second: Cecil's Memorable Week, A Bachelor's Lunch, Good News and It's All Right. Seven Campbells begins with a boy of about ten reading a Wordsworth poem about seven lovely Campbells and asking whether it means his own family.
In another passage three boys, Willie, Johnnie and Honorius, whom Johnnie calls the Emperor, talk about digging up a rough piece of ground they call the desert, so that mamma can walk there when she gets better. Elsewhere Jessie talks with a boy about the marks counted up to decide whether one may keep the exhibition, and Cecil's mother forgives Jessie and gives her and Frances a week's holiday.
