About the author

Ariel Lawhon

Lawhon writes historical fiction about women whose records are contested, and that contest is the interesting part of the job rather than a limitation. I Was Anastasia runs two timelines in opposite directions, one forward from the Romanovs and one backward from Anna Anderson, and refuses to tell the reader which is true until the structure forces it.
