About this book
Ifugao Law describes houses as small but substantially built from excellent materials, and says that the houses endure through many generations. The account says that both sexes wear ornaments made from gold, beads, agates, mother of pearl, brass, and other materials. The description of rice cultivation explains that a small rim of earth at the outer margin retains water to flood the terraces.
The treatment of evil eye or blasting word says that unintentional injury brings no punishment, although restitution is demanded in some cases. The discussion of sorcery says that the Ifugao proceeds slowly when condemning a person for that crime. The vocabulary defines hagaphap as cleaning a terrace wall and chopping off grass and weeds.
