About this book
In the Track of the Trades is the account of a fourteen thousand mile yachting cruise to the Hawaiis, Marquesas, Societies, Samoas and Fijis by Lewis R. Freeman. The text describes a person named Claribel whose quenchless energy found expression in musical, linguistic, literary, culinary and manual activities throughout the voyage. The text says simple ballads were favoured until arrival at Hilo, where "Aloha-oe" and various swinging hulas had their turn.
The text describes voyageurs by the absinthe route, each seated solitary yet scattered from Paris to the Riviera, from Chamonix to Trouville. The text tells of Carew, whose story approached its climax while the green bottle on his chair arm was tilted with increasing frequency. The book carries a dedication to the memory of the Commodore, the late H. H. Sinclair.
