A sickroom in Kentville becomes the starting point for Rebecca Ruter Springer's account of a heavenly vision. Seriously ill and longing for her family, the narrator describes a visit from Frank, her husband's deceased brother, who guides her from the room toward a place of flowering gardens, clear water and peaceful companionship. In her preface, Springer presents these scenes as an experience that brought comfort during a time when her life was in danger.

The vision gives heavenly life familiar activities as well as worship. A richly decorated auditorium provides the setting for Martin Luther's talk on the Reformation and John Wesley's teaching on God's love. Its jewel columns, polished cedar seats and pearl altar receive close attention. Family affection, religious teaching and descriptions of plants and buildings shape the account.
