About this book
Invisible Links by Selma Lagerlöf is translated from the Swedish, by Pauline Bancroft Flach. The contents list names, among others, “The Spirit of Fasting and Petter Nord”, “The Legend of the Bird's Nest” and “The King's Grave”. A character named Edith Halfvorson asks Nord whether he knows that a suit is soon to be brought against Halfvorson for illicit trading in brandy.
Petter Nord answers, “Perhaps it is best not to know anything.” The text says that Maurits will ask, “Do you think so badly of her, uncle?” The text speaks of a lonely woman who often sat musing on the fate which had brought her to this spot on the coast of Skone.
