Klara and the Sun

Klara and the Sun by Kazuo Ishiguro is narrated by Klara, an Artificial Friend, a robot built to be a child’s companion. The book follows her from the store window where she waits to be chosen, through her life with a sick teenage girl. Ishiguro writes about loneliness and love in a way that hits hard precisely because Klara never quite understands either of them.
