About this book
Menasseh ben Israel's Mission to Oliver Cromwell is credited to Manasseh ben Israel. The book is described as a reprint of the Pamphlets to promote the Re-admission of the Jews to England 1649 to 1656. The Relation of Antony Montezinus says that on the 18th of the Month of Elul, the 5404 year from the Worlds creation, and according to common compute in 1644, Aaron Levi, otherwise called Antonius Montezinus, came into this City Amsterdam.
A section says that in the Isle St. Michael, which belongs to the Azores, the Spaniards found Sepulchres under ground, with very ancient Hebrew letters. A section says a space is bigge enough for the ten Tribes, that they may there spread in places hitherto unknowne. A speaker says he has also published and printed, with his own press, above 60 other books, among them many bibles in Hebrew and Spanish, with all the Hebrew prayers corrected and disposed in good order. Pocock's biographical introduction gives a pen-picture of the author, saying he was of middle stature and inclining to fatness.
