My Cousin Rachel
Daphne du Maurier’s Gothic book “My Cousin Rachel” was released in 1951. Philip Ashley, who was raised by his cousin Ambrose, is the main character of the story. Things take a tragic turn when Ambrose falls in love with their third cousin, Rachel while visiting Italy. After Ambrose passes away inexplicably, Rachel goes back to the Cornwall estate. Philip is mesmerized by Rachel’s elegance and beauty, but doubts start to surface: Was Rachel involved in Ambrose’s demise? The book is an interesting read since it blends romance, mystery, and a gothic atmosphere.
