About this book

Changing feelings take the form of familiar objects in this picture book about kindness, empathy and self-acceptance. A heart may seem open and welcoming or closed against the outside world. Through these shifting comparisons, the text considers the need to care for inner feelings and the possibility of responding to others with affection.

About the author

Corinna Luyken

Luyken makes picture books where the drawing carries the argument. The Book of Mistakes begins with an eye drawn too large and turns every later error into part of a growing scene, so a reader watches a mistake become the reason the picture works.
