My Point of View is a selection from the works of Henry Drummond (1851-1897), the Scottish evangelical biologist and popular religious speaker. Drummond produced substantial popular religious writing across his short working life before his early death from cancer at age forty-six, and various selection volumes have been published to give readers access to representative material from his work.
Drummond’s most famous short address was The Greatest Thing in the World on First Corinthians chapter thirteen, which was widely distributed in pamphlet form and remained continuously in print across the decades after his death. His longer book Natural Law in the Spiritual World argued that the methods and findings of nineteenth century natural science could be applied to theological and spiritual questions.
The selection volume My Point of View gathers representative passages from across Drummond’s catalogue, with attention to his characteristic combination of evolutionary biology, popular religious teaching, and the practical pastoral concerns that ran through his various lectures and addresses.
