Myths and Legends of California and the Old Southwest
Myths and Legends of California and the Old Southwest is a 1912 collection edited by Katharine Berry Judson (1862-1929), the librarian and historian who assembled a popular series of regional Native American myth volumes. Drawing on ethnographic reports, she retells creation tales, coyote stories, and desert legends from peoples of California and the Southwest for general readers. The series spread Native oral literature widely, in the mediated form its period allowed. Free PDF download available on BDeBooks.
