About this book
Notes on Stable Management in India and the Colonies aims to give a new arrival in the East an idea of horse management, especially when setting up a stable for the first time. The title page describes a second edition, revised and enlarged, with a glossary.
The feeding advice recommends crushing or bruising gram rather than grinding it, to break the outer husk and let stomach juices act on the kernel. The feeding advice says that grinding gram into a fine powder causes a good deal of waste. The stable advice recommends mats of split bamboo or reeds over doors and windows, with spaces that admit light and air while keeping flies out.
