NYPD Red 6

NYPD Red 6 is the sixth book in James Patterson's NYPD Red series, co written with Marshall Karp. The NYPD Red series follows a fictional elite New York City Police Department unit assigned to high profile cases involving celebrities, the wealthy, and the various other prominent figures whose investigations require both the kind of investigative competence the unit provides and the discretion that the high profile context demands.

The central detective characters Zach Jordan and Kylie MacDonald drive the wider series across multiple connected entries, with the central pairing's complicated personal and professional dynamic providing the recurring emotional content alongside the various individual cases that each book covers. The Patterson and Karp collaboration delivers the kind of brisk procedural plotting that the Patterson brand promises, with the New York City setting and the celebrity case framework giving the series its distinctive character within the wider Patterson catalogue.

For longtime NYPD Red fans, NYPD Red 6 is a satisfying late series entry. For new readers, the series can be picked up at most points but starting with NYPD Red gives the strongest sense of the central characters and the wider unit dynamic.
