About this book
Physico-theology presents a demonstration of the being and attributes of God drawn from works of creation, with large notes and observations accompanying its argument. The title page describes the work as the substance of sixteen sermons preached at lectures in London, with the years given as 1711 and 1712.
The account of the globe calls its bulk a mass above 260 thousand million miles of solid content and judges such a work beyond anything less than God. The discussion of motion names rotation around the globe's own axis and movement around the Sun, described as its fountain of light and heat. The account describes animals gathering suitable materials and gluing them into structures, some heavier than water to remain at the bottom, others lighter than water to float on top.
