Pintoricchio is a book by Evelyn March Phillipps. The text says it is in 1482 that Bernardino first emerges from the realm of conjecture, forming part of that brilliant group gathered together in Rome to decorate the walls of Sixtus IV.'s newly-built chapel. The text says the chapel was completed in 1485, but Pintoricchio's part was probably finished earlier.
The text says that the style of the drawings has no resemblance whatever to that of Pintoricchio, though the writer cannot see much more to Gentile Bellini. A caption places a group of heads, a detail from the "Dispute of St. Catherine," in the Borgia Apartments, Vatican, Rome. The list of works names, among others, an Adoration of Shepherds at Spello, San Girolamo, Cloister Chapel. A bracketed note says a fresco of The Marriage of the Virgin is attributed by many critics to Pintoricchio, but not accepted by the author.
