Recent Criticism of the Book of Acts is an early scholarly article by J. Gresham Machen (1881-1937), the Princeton Seminary New Testament scholar who became the intellectual leader of American conservative Protestantism in the fundamentalist-modernist wars. Machen surveys the German critical debate over Acts with the philological rigour that marked all his work, defending the book’s historical value.
