About this book
Recreations in Astronomy is by Henry White Warren. The book is offered with directions for practical experiments and telescopic work, and with eighty-three illustrations and maps of stars. The preface says all sciences are making an advance, but Astronomy is moving at the double-quick.
The text imagines a world that hangs in empty space, and another world created of the same size, with the two mutually attractive and beginning to move toward each other. The text names three causes that enable us to see a little more than half the moon's surface. Professor Asaph Hall is quoted as saying it is known to him that at least two American astronomers, armed with powerful telescopes, have been searching quite recently for a trans-Neptunian planet.
