About this book
Round Games with Cards by W. H. Peel is described as a practical treatise on all the most popular games, with their different variations, and hints for their practice. A section on Napoleon notes that the game is more generally and popularly called Nap. For Napoleon, the text says no great skill is essential, but considerable care is necessary to secure anything like success at the game, the chief factor in which is so-called luck.
A rule says these rules shall be binding on all players, unless a departure from them has been agreed upon unanimously before play begins. The text names Vingt-un, or twenty-one, as another game found described in books. The text says the player of the highest card of the suit led, or of the highest trump, if trumps have been played, wins the trick.
