About this book

Saratoga and How to See It is by R. F. Dearborn and dated 1872. Text about Drs. Strongs Remedial Institute, on Circular, between Spring and Phila Streets, says the institution was established in 1855, for the special treatment of Lung, Female and Various Chronic Diseases. The text says the springs occur in the line of a fissure, or fault, in the towns of Saratoga and Ballston.

The text says that sulphur waters are very useful in the treatment of rheumatism, gout, neuralgia, and kindred diseases. A description of the Gilmore Spring says the well is over a hundred feet deep, and the water rises about thirty feet above the surface.
