Savrola
Winston Churchill wrote only one novel, and this is it, a political adventure set in the imaginary Mediterranean state of Laurania. The dictator Antonio Molara has promised to restore democracy and then refused, and out of the unrest rises Savrola, a brilliant and reluctant orator who becomes the face of the revolution. Complicating everything is Lucile, Molara’s wife, drawn into the intrigue and toward Savrola himself. Written in his early twenties while he was still a serving soldier, the book carries the ambition, the rhetoric, and the ideas about power and leadership that would define Churchill’s later career. This free PDF and EPUB edition preserves a curious and revealing work from a young man who would shape a century.
