About this book
Seaport in Virginia is by Gay Montague Moore and is headed "George Washington's Alexandria." A quoted writer says "I purchased you two lots near the water upon the Main street." The text states "Here assuredly are the circumstances surrounding the plan of the town in the youthful George Washington's hand."
The text says a man who served "As chaplain of the Masonic lodge" "assisted Dr. Dick with the Masonic ceremonies at the funeral of George Washington on December 18, 1799." A notice reads "The walking being bad to the Episcopal Church the funeral service for George Washington will be preached at the Presbyterian Meeting House tomorrow at 11 o'clock." Dr. Muir died on August 8, 1820, and "was held in such great affection and respect that it was decided to bury him under the pulpit."
