Selections from the Writings of Lord Dunsany is by Lord Dunsany. The contents list names, among others, "The Gods of the Mountain" and "The Fall of Babbulkund". In the introduction a writer recalls that Lady Wilde "once told me that when she was a young girl she was stopped in some Dublin street by a great crowd".

A traveller who "descended from his camel and sat by us" says "When morning shines on the colossus Neb and Neb speaks, at once the musicians of King Nehemoth in Babbulkund awake." The traveller adds that "every morning, the musicians of King Nehemoth make a new marvel in the City of Marvel". The text says that "if some deadly snake chanced to appear the Wanderers would greet him as a brother".

Lord Dunsany

Lord Dunsany developed imagined mythologies, remote kingdoms and compact wonder tales across fiction and drama. Born Edward John Moreton Drax Plunkett, he published The Gods of Pegāna in 1905 as his first book, introducing a created pantheon in a deliberately archaic style.
