About this book
Sir Walter Scott is a little book by Richard Holt Hutton. The prefatory note says the greater part of the book has been taken in one form or other from Lockhart's Life of Sir Walter Scott, in ten volumes. The note adds that no introduction to Scott would be worth much in which that course was not followed. The note says that, excepting Sir Walter's own writings, there is hardly any other great source of information about him.
A story characteristic of both Sir Walter's parents is told by Mr. Lockhart. Mrs. Scott's curiosity was strongly excited one autumn by the regular appearance at a certain hour every evening of a sedan chair. Wordsworth is described as adding his own more durable token of reverence.
