Sixty Years with Plymouth Church is the 1907 memoir of Stephen M. Griswold (1835-1916), a longtime member of Brooklyn’s Plymouth Church who watched its history through the famous and stormy ministry of Henry Ward Beecher. Griswold recalls the great preacher, the abolition years, the Beecher-Tilton scandal, and decades of church life in one of nineteenth-century America’s most influential congregations. The memoir is a primary source for Beecher’s Brooklyn. Free PDF download available on BDeBooks.
