About this book

Spies of the Kaiser, subtitled Plotting the Downfall of England, is by William Le Queux. The contents list names chapters called, among others, How the Plans of Rosyth Were Stolen, The Secret of the Silent Submarine and The Peril of London. A narrator's friend says of a long corrugated-iron building lying back from the road facing the Forth that it is the much-discussed Rosyth, that these are the Admiralty offices, and that from here the tracing of that plan was obtained.

A narrator drives the Honourable Robert back to London and waits for him in the courtyard of the Hotel Cecil while he is inside for a quarter of an hour. A building is described as not cleaned or painted, with its windows still thick with soot and several broken ones boarded up. Day follows day, with Busch and Dubois spending most of their time within those high walls.
