About this book
State of the Union Addresses, credited to William H. Taft, gathers addresses dated from December 7, 1909 to December 3, 1912. One address says that the relations of the United States with all foreign governments have continued upon the normal basis of amity and good understanding and are very generally satisfactory. One address records a special agreement between the United States and Great Britain, entered into on January 27, 1909, for the submission of questions relating to the fisheries on the North Atlantic Coast.
Another address says that the Pan-American policy of the Government has long been fixed in its principles and remains unchanged. An address commends to the favorable action of the Congress a law applying to the diplomatic and consular service the principles of the civil-service act of January 16, 1883.
