About this book

The third of Nancy Drew's cases, published in 1930, opens with a storm on a lake and a capsized boat, from which the teenage detective rescues a frightened girl named Laura Pendleton. Laura has recently lost her father and been placed with new guardians who seem far more interested in her fortune than her welfare. Nancy's instincts prove right, and she follows the trail through a locked bungalow, stolen bonds, and a pair of swindlers willing to hurt anyone who gets close to the truth. Quick nerve and loyal friends carry her through one of the tightest spots of the early series. Free PDF and EPUB edition.
