About this book

The book that launched Nancy Drew in 1930, this first case introduces the sixteen-year-old daughter of lawyer Carson Drew as she looks into the estate of the late Josiah Crowley. A grasping relative, the Topham family, stands to inherit everything, yet several kind and struggling households were quietly promised a share. Nancy becomes convinced that a more recent will exists, and her search leads to an old mantel clock and a run-in with thieves who lock her away to keep her quiet. Resourceful and fearless, she set the template for generations of young detectives who followed. Free PDF and EPUB edition.
