About this book

The Copy-Cat, and Other Stories is a book of stories by Mary Eleanor Wilkins Freeman. The contents list names, among others, THE COPY-CAT, THE COCK OF THE WALK, JOHNNY-IN-THE-WOODS and THE AMETHYST COMB. A story headed THE COPY-CAT says that an affair of Jim Simmons's cats never became known. Little Amelia Wheeler is commonly called “The Copy-Cat” by the pupils of Madame's school. Mrs. Diantha says that looks matter very little, while Grandmother Wheeler says they matter very much.

A character named Sydney is called a scholar and a gentleman, one who had led a gentle and sequestered life. A character named Annie is shown watching Tom Reed disappear beneath the trellised hood of the door.
