About this book

Robert F. Horton is the author of The Expositor's Bible, The Book of Proverbs. The text says that the gates of Knowledge and Wisdom are closed, and that they are opened only to the knock of Reverence. A description of the seeker after real knowledge says that he will have little about him which suggests worldly success. The text states that there is no gainsaying the fact that this fear, this reverence, is the beginning of wisdom.

A passage on friendship says to take pains to keep real friends, to watch carefully for the small beginnings of a rupture and to hasten to heal it. The text also says that such a friendship, rare and beautiful as it is, forms a noble stepping-stone to the loftier relationship of Christian love.
