About this book

The Expositor's Bible: The Book of Revelation discusses the interpretation of the seven churches as representatives of the whole Christian Church across countries and throughout time. The discussion describes St. John entering spiritual ecstasy while meditating on his Lord's heavenly glory and the contrasting fortunes of the Church on earth. The account says that St. John was permitted, and even commanded, to record what he heard and saw.

The interpretation explains the dragon's greatness through its power and its redness through the colour of blood and its ferocity in destroying people. The discussion identifies seven as the number of completeness when considering the dragon's heads.
