Ramos was born in the Philippines, moved to Wisconsin at six, and worked in investment banking at Goldman Sachs and later at The Economist. The Farm imagines a luxury facility in the Hudson Valley where mostly immigrant women are paid well to carry the babies of the very rich under constant monitoring, and it refuses to make anyone in it a villain.
